Behaviors for Learning

 

Mission/Vision

Aragon High School, committed to providing a quality education that recognizes the importance of both standards-based academics and personal development, fervently supports individual student achievement and strives to create a community where all students, teachers, administrators, and parents are accountable for demonstrating a commitment to learning. 

To make a positive contribution in our 21st century democratic multicultural society, students must make a consistent effort to master and demonstrate appropriate behavior for learning, which will in turn enable them to make the most out of their experience at Aragon.

 

TARDY POLICY

 

First Week of Class:  Teachers explain BFL rules and review the process steps for the tardy policy.

Policy:          Tardies are recorded in Aeries for being late to class any time during the class period.  Total absence from class will constitute a cut.  The teacher’s attendance records remain the official record for attendance as defined by California Education Code.

Expected Behavior:  Be in class and ready to work when the bell rings.

1st Step:        After the 3rd class tardy Ø Teacher writes referral to Dean including a note as to prior           conferences with the student regarding tardies. Saturday School assigned.

2nd Step:       After the 6th class tardy Ø Teacher writes referral to Dean. Attendance Conference with                      Administration.  Saturday School assigned

3rd Step:        After the 9th class tardy Ø Administration conference and a disciplinary issue, possible suspension. 

*Records are cleared at the semester.

Thursday Detention Center will be each week ~ Each session clears one detention.    

Saturday School is held 8am – 12pm once a month and is a study time with tutors ~  Each hour of Saturday School clears one detention  (Saturday School schedule will be available when school starts)

 

Discipline

The BFL-Learning Targets

                        1.  Respectful Language

                        2.  Academic Integrity

                        3.  Respect School and Others’ property

                        4.  No Electronic Devices

            Major Infractions automatically go the assistant principals and/or dean

Consequences:  Recorded in Aeries in the intervention file

  •  Schoolwide infractions in any 6 week period Ø Saturday School.
  •  Recidivism will warrant an administration conference and a disciplinary issue.
